Maybe we could demonstrate how easy apache, php, etc is to install on
*nix as compared to Windoze?

Show them ifconfig. If they've dealt with even a small network, they'll
be amazed that you can change IP addr's without rebooting :)

Gimp? Blender? Emacs even :)

Everyone (almost) likes choices:
Web Browsers: Netscape, mozilla, konqueror, Opera, links, lynx, amaya, w3m
Text editors: Emacs (and its spinoffs), vi (and it's spinoffs), nedit,
xedit, etc, etc

While free (as in speech) and reliability are the reasons most people
continue to use OpenSource software, it takes a while to really
appreciate these things, while free (as in beer, and I mean really free,
not as in, "It's free for 30 days, and then once you know how to use it
you're going to have to pay") is what gets a lot of people STARTED in
OpenSource software.

A quote I'd like to hear:
"You mean I can use it as a desktop AND a high reliability server, and I
NEVER have to pay a dime? You mean I can learn one system, and have it
do EVERYTHING I need it to. Wow! No wonder MicroSoft hates it!"
