Yeah, but unless you were doing a lot of deleteing/copying/creating
etc during the time of the crash, it's pretty quick.  Like I said,
I'm no fs guru, but from what I understand, a proper umount puts
data somewhere that says "This fs is OK, no need for fsck before
the next mount."

So, what happens to the data that's in RAM on it's way to the disk when
the crash happens.  Lost I presume?

BTW, there's no need to fsck a ffs/softupdate system, unless it wasn't
unmounted properly.  (Unlike ext2fs, which needs the occasional clean
up, even when nothig bad has happened.)
