Plug a surge protector/power strip into the UPS?  My APC /yells/ when
the power gets flaky, and since I sleep in the same room, a couple
minutes is plenty time.  They're not doing anything really important
anyway.  There's some good software out there; you can put a box on the
UPS and have that machine run a daemon with clients on the other
machines to shut down the whole network, but setting all that up is
still on my ol` TODO list, so I can't answer any questions about it
(yet).

Some software for OpenBSD, I would imagine there are Linux ports also:
