Yes and no.  Yes, sometimes you can.  No,
probably not under Linux. (servers yes,
player/downloader no)  Curl and wget won't...

Let me know if you find one....

For windows:
treambox did this, and was sued and settled with
real.... they wrote/bought xfileget and then made
streambox VCR, which vanished due to lawsuits....
suffice it to it's still out there, been patched
(cause they tried to make it not work) and can be
found via a google search.  streambox vcr suite
is what you want...
