Yeah, POSE is open source, works well, and is a great Palm emulator... highly recommended.
There are complete packages for everything in Debian I believe.... including the cross compilers etc... It's not running Linux, but I'm not convinced that running Linux on a handheld is so hot right now... speed and ram are huge issues, and so far, I'm not impressed with the results.
