Your offer to bring a Win XP machine to the next meeting probably raised a number of mixed emotions. I'm sure many would like to watch it boot and get a first hand look at XP. Others might find it an interesting momentary diversion. I'm at an extreme where looking at XP seems kind of morbid. It's good for Linux advocates to know what features users of other OSes need and expect from an OS. You're right to encourage us to build up our knowledge of Win??, MacOS, BeOS, OS/2, etc. And, in that light, I encourage you to bring the XP machine to a meeting. Although it's little suprise that readers of this list didn't shout a rousing "YES!" to your offer, I don't think you should take what has been posted so far a rejection. > -----Original Message----- > From: Bob Miller [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Monday, October 22, 2001 8:29 PM > To: Mr O > Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: [EUG-LUG:3362] Re: the windoze XP-erience > > Mr O wrote: > > << Not to mention after the end of this year NT4 will no longer be > > supported > > > by M$ and 2000 will be fazed out within a couple years as well > > so..... > > And just how does one benefit from Microsoft's "support"? > (Yeah, I know, cheap shot and preaching to the choir...) > > New hardware tends to have drivers available back through W95.
