I've see the stuff the guys from Samba did. Way over my head. I have been debating getting a TiVo, but have always thought ethernet would be very cool.

I have special TiVos with extra hardware (Ethernet and two serial ports). For development, we tend to boot our TiVos off the net using Bootp/TFTP/NFS, just like a diskless Sun. Saves the trouble of installing new software on the TiVo every time you recompile.
