Hi,

Seth asked for this error message but I though it would be better to post
it here. Just in case ...

I wanted to uninstall the Gnome packages so I could compile my own. I
removed too much. After reinstalling Slackware 8.0 and redoing the
settings, my system is mostly back. Now 3 things, that I know of, don't
work; the mouse, MySQL and X.

They all give the same error:
socket(): Address family not supported by protocol

Using the mouse as an example:
gpm:  oops() invoked from gpm.c(1003)
socket(): Address family not supported by protocol

So what I'm looking for is the underlying cause that these guys have in
common.

Thanks one and all.
Bob ( the other one )
