I don't have a Samba filesystem available to test. What does this
test do on a Samba filesystem?
$ echo foo > foo
$ echo FOO > FOO
$ cat foo FOO fOo
foo
FOO
cat: fOo: No such file or directory
$ rm foo FOO
$
