I highly recommend Open Office as free office solution, the current 
build 638C prints perfectly. The only thing missing is a printer config 
tool for it. So you have to do the printer configuration manually. To

If you use a native CUPS driver of GIMP-Print, use the CUPS PPD file (in 
this case Foomatic PPD files will not work, the Foomatic PPD files are 
only for GhostScript drivers).

to get more fonts and spell-checking. The additional fonts will print 
perfectly, too.

Also GNOME/GTK applications as AbiWord print correctly.
