How different is different? Plan 9 rc is available for Linux and *BSD, although you'd have to modify the terminal window setup to get the full flavor of it (or run 9wm); in Plan 9 you can toggle whether a terminal window parses "enter" as "read the command" or "create a new line" so history and commmand editing is pretty much like editing a text file. Another quite-different shell is scsh, the scheme shell, with a scheme style command syntax. And of course, there's advsh... Welcome to the adventure shell!
