I havnt noticed the issues your having, however I did have an issue with X
under 8.1, that I didnt have in 8 (although my video chipset isnt supported
under x4, it works in 3.3.6.
The issue I had was x was "wiggy", it was sluggish, moving windows around
was really slow and just felt weird... So, I tried the 3.3.6 3D server,
(which didnt really load, it switched back to normal 3.3.6), and now its
acting like it should... I have no idea why or what changed. I tried x4, and
it looked like it was going to work, but alas no... it switched back to 3.3.6
( I ran DrakConf from a shell, and could see the errors). So... when I change
servers, the test looks fine, however it doesnt keep those changes, it
acutally goes back to 3.3.6 (it doesnt tell you... but if you run it from a
shell, you can see it failing, and changing back... Its weird, nothing to do
with your issue, but may be of some use...
