[Note: With half the conversation happening on [EMAIL PROTECTED] and
half on [EMAIL PROTECTED] it requires posting to both lists until
everyone moves their responses from one list to the other. In case
you don't yet know how to subscribe to the activism list, here's how:
just send a blank message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] you'll get
a confirmation message with further instructions, just reply with an
empty message. Personally, I see no value to having two lists if no
one enforces the rules regarding what gets posted where. It's just
more difficult to follow the redundant yet parallel threads. -Dex]

Money (the whole economy) is just an extension of political control.

We're the richest country in the history of the world, with the
most freedom and highest level of education for the majority of
the population; we've used up more energy (coal, oil, etc.) per
capita than any civilization in history; and what do we have to
show for all this extravagant investment of resources? Nothing!
We've created a society of stupid, selfish, shortsighted, greedy,
backstabbing, liars, and arrogant bullies bent on fucking-over
every other society on earth and destroying the planet's entire
life-support system to boot. We've created a cancer that spreads
its corruption through every culture and person until there's no
virtue left; we're not content simply to destroy people's lives,
communities, and cultures but we try to poison their souls as
well. And we do all this in the name of freedom, democracy, and
Christianity! When what we really export is debt slavery, lying
hypocrisy, and the rule of a morally depraved power elite. If we
really loved truth and justice we would submit ourselves to an
international court of law, a planetary sovereignty of humanity.

I think the American politico-economic system is like a gang-rape.
If you stand on the side and watch you begin to feel guilty, much
better to jump right in get your share of the action. You may even
convince yourself that you're giving the bitch what she deserves.
