Maybe I should try 3.0 > again. There are some changes to pciide(4) that people seem to be happy about :) You *could* try disabling pciide, but you might get really slow disk access. Another common problem is pcibios. It can be safely disabled without noticable change. I would suggest going to 3.0 also. IPF has, from what I've heard, had several bug fixes since 2.9 release. The decision to drop it was made shortly after release, so the fixes didn't go in. pf also apparently is a bit more efficient. While it doesn't make much of a difference for simple networks with simple filtering rules, I would imagine with 5 interfaces, it would be noticable.
