I'm guessing he meant in your KMail options, where you set the pwd?
I am wondering if the password is not meant to be passed in plaintext?
(The third test you showed was interactively typing it in plaintext,
but the first came Kmail's output? or am I not getting your problem?)
Humm, are kmail and fetchmail configured with the same options?
I'm assuming you're familiar with your mail clients... maybe you could
also check to make sure the IP for your pop server is correctly resolving.
Your ping results would've confirmed this. Another thought: sometimes
I have seen LAN routing fail due to what I believe are stale ARP caches,
when cables get rerouted without resetting switches... anyone know if this
is a valid explanation? Sorry, it prolly doesn't apply here, since the pop
server is outside the LAN. Finally: are you setting kmail's options
through
the gui? You might want to look at the release notes and double-check that
your issue is not mentioned there (ie, if it were an encrypted pwd
configuration problem). Any Kmail experts out there?
