Title: RE: [EUG-LUG:462] hdparm

I usually put this in either rc.local or rc.sysinit (both are located in /etc on my redhat system) if they don't exist else where. I know that Mandrake had a file that set these paramters, but I can remember what it was called. I know that it was in a sub-directory of etc. I also beleive that later versions of Redhat have a file in /etc/sysconfig/ called harddisk or harddisks and that this file contains some options related to this setting.

Hope that helps,
Garl

Subject: [EUG-LUG:462] hdparm

Um, I found out how to manipulate my drive for faster reads but how do I save
my settings? SuSE would not setup using the optimum config and I had to go
safe mode on the install which doesn't use DMA. Altering setting brought me
from barely 3MB/sec reads to about 30MB/sec readings. Not bad eh? The
O'reilly page I was reading mentioned saving the settings in /etc/rc.d* but
there's a few of those files and I don't know which one to edit. Does anyone?

Thanks for some help anybody.

Later,

Mr O
