Things to check:

1.dns 
2.gateway

you can use 
route -n        
entered into a terminal window (as root) and it should show you a list of
routes defined, including at least one entry with an ip address listed
under Gateway. Mandrake probably has a menu entry for it, but I'm not sure
what it is.
