couldn't this be done with ftp and some combination of directory and notification services? For instance having a way to notify the recipients system that there was a new version of file foo and the recipients system would then wait for a time when connecting to the repository was convenient and simple. You could even elaborate on this and make the repository distributed, after all UUCP is just a set of systems passing compressed archives around is it not? http://www.efn.org/~laprice ( Community, Cooperation, Consensus http://www.opn.org ( Openness to serendipity, make mistakes http://www.efn.org/~laprice/poems ( but learn from them.(carpe fructus ludi) http://allie.office.efn.org/phpwiki/index.php?OregonPublicNetworking
