You'll need to start off by pulling in apt-get directly from woody:

http://packages.debian.org/testing/base/apt.html

I'm running woody and I'm not clear if dependencies for apt-get 0.5.4 
are met by potato.  If they aren't, apt-preferences won't work for you.

Arrrg, I just looked and Gnumeric is still at 0.76-2 in testing.  But, 
unstable has 1.01-1 so it may make its way out in a few weeks.  Check:
