AOL has been running a unix-oriented backend for YEARS, and they have more often than not done the right thing when it comes to open-source companies. Try this if you're on debian system: $ apt-cache search aol you'll be surprised... also check out http://arsdigita.com since they are the ones who've done much of aol's web service layer. I know it's easy to confuse aol's customers with the company itself, but it took a lot of technical acumen to come up with something that was easy to learn and use for people who just don't care about computers...
