Talli,

Talli Somekh sent the following invitation to all PLUG members,
and remember anyone is a PLUG member who claims to be a PLUG member
so that includes you people in the mid valley and Eugene as well.

Also, this event happens on Tuesday Feb 5.
The general meeting which I will announce in a couple days will still
happen on Thursday Feb 7 at PSU. PLUG never cancels or moves a meeting if
we can avoid it. Besides, the Lucky Lab would probably be happy to
see us twice in one week.

                                          Sincerely,
                                          David Mandel

Subject: Hi and an OpenACS Social in PDX

Hi Dave,

I'm writing to mention that there will be an OpenACS social in
Portland next Tuesday February 5th and I would like to invite
anyone from the PDX LUG to come and learn more about the OpenACS
toolkit (http://www.openacs.org).

To borrow from our homepage, the OpenACS is:
--
OpenACS (Open ArsDigita Community System) is an advanced toolkit
for building scalable, community-oriented web applications that
is licensed under the GPL. If you're thinking of building an
enterprise-level web application, OpenACS is a solid, proven
foundation that will give you a 3-6 month headstart.

OpenACS relies on AOLserver, a web/application server, and PostgreSQL,
a true ACID-compliant RDBMS. These are two high-quality products
available for free under open-source licenses. The latest version
of the OpenACS toolkit, OpenACS v4, will support both PostgreSQL
and Oracle and will soon suppor other databases as well.
--

The social will be held at the Lucky Labrador Brewing Company
which it seems the PDX LUG is familiar with.

I was wondering if you might post this announcement to your mailing
list, but if you recommend that I post this to your mailing list,
please let me know.

Thank you very much, and I hope to meet you at the OpenACS social!

Thanks,

Talli Somekh
