The website gives GNU some credit. See the 'What is Linux' page[1]. In the first paragraph:
Linux, properly known as GNU/Linux... There is also a whole section near the bottom of the page titled, "What is GNU?". I think this is enough. Anyone reading our site thoroughly will know that Linux is properly called GNU/Linux, and that GNU contributed greatly to Linux's existence. (and the the site is outdated and has incorrect meeting locations :) [1] Although, as RMS pointed out, this page should be title, "What is GNU/Linux" http://www.euglug.org/what_is_linux.phtml -Rob > On 20020130.2108, Dexter Graphic said ... > > >Two cents from a novice: "GNU" doesn't tell me anything meaningful. > >What other operation system needs to differentiate between kernel or > >OS and the whole system? > > With DOS/Window, Microsoft owns/controls both the kernel and the > rest of the OS so there is no product distinction necessary. > > >How do you say it, "gnulinux", or "gnu slash linux"? > > Nobody says "slash" that I know of, "gnu linux" is how I say it. > > Dex > > -- Rob <rob_at_euglug_dot_net> my @euglugCode = qw(v+++ e--- eug+ bsd+++ gnu+ S+++); Random Quote: ------------ Wouldn't it be wonderful if real life supported control-Z?
