sorry. i don't exactly think it's polite to CC someone when you're flat out
calling them a "whiny bitch". but you're right. why hide it.

Mr. Stallman,
i appreciate dearly the GPL and what it stands for. i will continue to stand
behind it and promote it as much as i can. because i believe in it. but will
you please quit your bitching about this "GNU/Linux" thing? we all know where
<*some of*> the software comes from.
get off your ego-trip and take what you're given. have some fun! smoke some
dope! if you and your crew would just lighten up and get off your "moral
step-stool", i'm sure you could get far more support than you have. and for
god's (or who/whatever else you give props to) sake, fix your website. it's so
somber and boring. i can't bear to read more than a page at a time...
also : "free software" is a misnomer. in today's money-oriented society, all
it stands for is "free beer". find another classification and i'm sure it'll
make far more sense to the rest of the world. someone on our mailing lists
suggested "libre". clearing this up will most likely generate more support for
your cause.
for instance, i refer to the GPL as a "sharing liscence". it forces
everybody in the sandbox to play nicely with the toys they are given. sharing
sounds nice, doesn't it?
as far as sharing the limelight, which i'm sure will be brought up, let's
point out that without Linus, you wouldn't have a strong vehicle from which to
promote your stance. further, it's not like you and your crew /don't/ get
recognition... why, Microsoft is calling you and your liscence the devil! you
guys must have done /something/ right...

i have a few questions to ask of you :

1. is "Linux/GNU" acceptable? if not, why?
2. if i pronouce GNU as "new" or "g-n-u", is it a Bad Thing? if so, why?
3. seeing as how most of the essential system software from the FSF is mainly
"copies" (this is like that "free" word. don't take it literally...) of Unix
software, why aren't we calling GNU "GIU"?
4. if i built a Linux system using only GLibC from your toolset, with the rest
of the software from outside sources (GPL or not, it's out there), would i
still be obliged to call it "GNU/Linux"? if so, why? also, what percentage of
GNU software in a system is required before we are obliged to called it a GNU system?
