i finally got sick of staring at redhat sometime yesterday and decided to try out slackware. well, slack is pretty damn kewl. i like their installer. but it wouldn't compile lynx. so i got to thinking and replaced the slack root with my devel root. i ran 'ROOT=/mnt ./QuickInst' from the lilo source directory and it installed well. the reboot was even better!
NO MORE LAME-ASS PACKAGE MANAGERS!!!!! so far it's just lynx mit cheese (and ssl...), iptables, mpg123 and assorted misc libraries. next up is X and Mesa, but there's a lot of reading involved in that. my ultimate goal is to set up a complete graphics box prepped for games. my /devel partition is still in use and aside from some boot script cleanage, it's about ready to turn into a "distro" cd. lastly, i have a western digital 20gb (WD0200) for sale. $30 OBO. no problems that weren't immediately solved by re-seating a loose IDE cable... ===== Justin Bengtson @euglug=(v+ e- eug++ bsd? gnu++ s++) [EMAIL PROTECTED] "i called some kid 'b' the other day. it's the price you pay for living hip-hop every day of your life."
