An Overview of the Netule FW-I Firewall

Abstract:
The Netule FW-I is a special purpose Linux distribution designed
to solve agency and company firewalling needs. We will show
how the FW-I can be used to provide:
- IP masquerading
- Network Address Translation
- Packet Filters
- A DMZ for publicly accessible internet servers
- Web, mail, and other proxies
- Virus protection
- Virtual Private Networking
- Reporting functions
- and more
We will define and discuss these concepts in general (not just as
they apply to the FW-I) and show how they are important in protecting
your network no matter whose firewall you use.
