A server appliance is a pre-configured bundle of hardware,an
optimized operating system (Linux or FreeBSD in this case),
and software for one application or a small set of related
functions. Typical applications include web-site hosting and
content caching, traffic balancing, email, file-sharing,
databases, and printer sharing.
