Welcome to the loop Jamie. You seem to have been outside a part of it. Xine is a damn spiffy media player capable of playing DVDs with the appropriate plugins. I've had it running a few times. I haven't gotten an AC3 output from my soundcard yet though (one of two reasons for even having Win98 on my drive). There's Ogle and a few other projects too. linuxvideo.org is a place to poke around or just go to http://xine.sourceforge.net. DivX sucks compared to an actual DVD so I don't even play with it but Xine can handle that too. That be it for now.
