I'm looking for a good toolkit to do data analysis
and present the results as .pdf

I'm looking for a toolset that will allow me to join diverse data sets
in different formats (everything from .xls to netCDF aceDB and .dwx
formats)

So any suggestions you have are welcome,
this is for a long term project,
generally plan on mangling the data ( also known as statistical analysis)
on server side, but want to have as platform independent a means
of presenting conclusions as possible.

More I learn about .pdf better I like it,
the TeX to .pdf stuff I've seen hasn't really set my
brain on fire, but if you know of any really good resources in that
direction I'd like to hear them. Too bad .dvi hasn't conquered the
universe, but the best can't be the enemy of the good (or something like
that).
