Yes.

The wal-mart.com literature suggests "most Windows programs". How

Yes.
My guess is that the most valuable aspect of this will turn out to
be that installing Lindows demonstrates concretely that any other distro
can be installed without problem. Lindows is still in Beta, after all.
It's just a Linux kernel used to run a well tweaked WINE.
