This got bounced from the list, but I think it a worthwhile
contribution.

Actually, I got the software right off www.aol.com.
They have done the port to linux (several flavors)
themselves!

Bob Miller is thinking...
|
|This week our nieces are staying with us. They're teens, and they
|really, really like chat. AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), to be precise.
|
|Anne and I installed AIM on two Windows boxes for them so they can
|talk with their friends on the east coast. Then Anne googled for an
|AIM client for Linux. She found one (aim.sourceforge.net, I think).
|Installed it, and it came right up. Lauren was happily typing, "hey",
|"whatz happenin" and "nuthin" a few seconds after the download
|finished.
|
|I have a really good feeling about Linux going mainstream on the
|desktop over the next few months. Really good.
