Perhaps if you define separately "secure", or what you don't want to
happen, and "multimedia", or what you want to be able to do, and how
much work you're willing to put in to get both.

Pretty much any system can be made "secure", especially a single user
workstation that's not running any remotely accessible services.  Of
course, the overall security of the system depends on the security of
all running bits, so running a broken ftp client on an other wise
"secure" system could be "insecure".
