ComputerBase (plug) built a dual 2.2 Zeon with 2 Gig RAM and striped 120 Gig drives
and Redhat 7.3 for one of my clients. My client runs astrometric calculations so
speed is an issue. He told me he tried Windows but it was too buggy and it didn't
handle memeory very well. He tried Redhat. The calculations ran faster on the
same hardware and didn't crash.

Some of his calculations run on his computer some on a mainframe. Here is some
info he just sent me:

"The old comptuer estimated at <14 hrs = ~800 min
New computer 1:28 hrs = 88 min
Mainframe 1:45 h elapsed, 1:15 h CPU = 75 min

On your machines, there's no distinction between elapsed & CPU time;
so the new one looks even better: 88 min vs. 105 min (due to I/O?). "

Thanks Mike, he really likes it.
