So... Finally I have slack 8.1 running (im using it right now!) I got it running on a laptop last night, then my desktop this afternoon... It ended up taking 6 floppy disks (1 boot, 5 root). The weird thing is (after making a lot of disks, trying to install, making another disk, try to install, ... ) I ended up having floppy read failures druing boot (on the laptop it was disk 4, on the desktop it was disk2) but installs still when through.
Slack 8.1 looks pretty nice... I didnt have to configure x, I did have to manually load the sound module, and it didnt load the proper NIC driver (but it works anyway...) Now all I have to do is compile the current wireless drivers, and I *Should* have wirless laptop/ap shortly :) So.. I still wonder... whats the deal with slackware 8.1 cdrom, why wont it boot on any of my systems? Jamie
