Oh.  That's different.  Ignore my advice about INSTALL vs. UPGRADE.

I don't have a Mandrake 9.0 disk, so I don't know all the details,
but here's my guess.

Are you sure you have a good CD?  (Does it boot in a different PC?)

Have you tried booting all the varieties of kernel?  They probably
have one for SCSI and one for PCMCIA, etc.  Try 'em all.  My primary
workstation would only boot the "vanilla" kernel off the Debian CDs...
