That needs to be a capital X.  ssh -X ...

Also, make sure you have 

    X11Forwarding yes

in your sshd_config (probably /etc/ssh/sshd_config, but some distros
move it around).

It depends how much memory Tesla has.  The X vnc server creates
a virtual desktop which is distinct from the physical desktop
your wife is using.
