Sory, Dexter, I've only used three window managers on a regular bassis:
afterstep, enlightenment and bash (heh)

I recently made the switch from afterstep to enlightenment just for the heck
of it. I don't like desktops. The only reason I use X is to fit more
terminals on screen, to use a graphical web browser and an occasional
graphics program.

Yes bash can be sort of a window manger:
create a window: $ xcalc &
close a window: $ killall navigator
close X: $ su ; # reboot || $ killall X
start X: $ startx <-- try that with your other (inferior) window managers!
HA!

Subject: [Eug-lug]Thanks! But what about doing it in KDE?

Thanks for all the command line help (determining the time
and extracting archives).

But doesn't anyone ever use KDE? Like for browsing through
the compressed help files in /usr/share/doc/HOWTO/en/ ?

I thought maybe if I entered "." as the default directory
in ark's preferences that it might extract gz files to the
current directory when I clicked on them, but it just says
"no such directory exists". The ark help file does not say
anything helpful. Ark, BTW, is the Archiver program used
by Konqueror to create and extract archives graphically.
