Don't you want root's mail delivered to your own mailbox? Wouldn't it
be easier to read all your mail from the same box?
Debian defaults to exim, not postfix, but here's what I do on a Debian
server where I want all the mail forwarded to my normal mailbox.
Here's /etc/aliases.
daemon: root
bin: root
sys: root
# etc.
root: kbob
Then, in ~kbob/.forward, I have this.

.forward must be world-readable, but writable only by kbob.
% ls -l .forward
-rw-r--r-- 1 kbob kbob 20 Jan 29 22:58 .forward
I don't know whether this recipe will work verbatim for postfix. I'm
also not sure whether you *want* root's mail delivered to your own
mailbox.
