Ben,
Should work fine! my craptops are about 1/2 that (P-120 w/24 megs), and they
are pretty slow by todays standards. I have actually run enlightenment on one
once (took about 5 minutes to load up...). When running linux or bsd, I use
blackbox/fluxbox most of the time, I also use icewm (looks a lot like
windows95), FVWM, FVWM-95, TWM (yuck!), and even windowmaker. I dont use
windowmaker much, as its a bit more resouce hungry than the others.
Ive run KDE and Gnome on p-200 w/64 megs, it works ok, but is a little slow.
I think Fluxbox will run pretty well for you, so will icewm, fvwm and Id
suggest trying windowmaker, kde 2 (3 may be a bit slow, although you can set
kde to run on low (relatively) resources.
Linux can be ideal on low end boxes, it depends a lot on what you need to do
mostly. If you dont need a gui, but need system security, then linux/bsd are
the only real choices. If you need a box that will work as a workstation and
a server, then linux/bsd is really your only choice. If your system doesn
meet the supported microsoft product, then linux/bsd is your only answer...
If you have a mixed hardware environment (such as mac, pc, sun, ...) and all
the computers must run the same OS, then linux is probaby your only answer.
