Good one, Larry -- I'm surprised that you're surfing IBM, I'd have
thought they're too much "The Man" [big brother/the System] for you!

You realize this document is over two years old!!! It was written about
2 1/2 years ago. They have come a good bit further since then, in their
storage technology department and now nanotech is nothing new. I
remember readin about the millipede concept when they went public with
it... very exciting potential...
just think of the Turing capabilities! = )

You'll want to watch these sites, among others, for more updates:
http://www.storage.ibm.com/thought/index.html
http://www.research.ibm.com/compsci/storage/

Here's some more, specifically expounding on the millipede:
http://www.research.ibm.com/resources/news/20020611_millipede.shtml
(ha! June 11, 2002!)
http://www.zurich.ibm.com/st/storage/results.html
http://www.zurich.ibm.com/st/storage/concept.html
http://www.zurich.ibm.com/st/storage/millipede.html
http://www.zurich.ibm.com/st/mems/chip.html
http://www.zurich.ibm.com/st/mems/concept.html
(same as above concept.html AFAIK)
The results.html is the coolest page, IMHO.

This is also interesting:

and a bit on holographic storage:
