Subject: [PLUG] Oregon Open Source Bill Introduced

Friends,

A bill will be introduced to the House of Representatives requiring that
State Government in Oregon consider "using open source software when
acquiring new software." You may find a link to the bill on Oregon's
legislative web site here:

  http://www.leg.state.or.us/03reg/measures/hb2800.dir/hb2892.intro.html

You may also find a link to Rob "Roblimo" Miller's write-up here:

The bill is in good hands, but we need your support! I will post a draft
letter in the next few days for delivery to your local representative
about the bill, and why it is important for both the people of Oregon
and it's economy. I would like each of you to just spend a few moments
to modify the letter as you deem necessary and send it to the House
Representative in your local district. I will provide a list of contacts
in your area.

This bill is _very_ important to helping with the budget shortfall in
Oregon and encouraging our State Government to ensure a fair and
competitive process when procuring IT products and services.

If you have any questions or would like to get involved, please do let
me know.

Very Truly Yours,

Cooper Stevenson
