I am using windows 98 and bitTorrent to
download Mandrake 9.1 .
Very slow going on a dial-up. When you stop the
installer. You can go back and restart the process, after checking the
integrity of the downloaded file itstarts where you left off. When you
start BitTorrent the first time it allocates the space for all three iso files.
Then proceeds to populate the files. This is a program where it seems
after you download the iso's you should leave BitTorrent running when you can to
improve other peoples download speed.
I will run it at night to see if
over time the download speed improves. I use the firezone alarm firewall
program. It is giving me many more alerts on extended downloads than
normal. I highly reccommend whatever O/S is used you install and use a
firewall until after the Iraq situation is over. Whatever linux distro you use
hase firewall capabilites built in.
