Edit /etc/apt/sources.list. Change www.debian.org to <yourhostname> throughout. Don't replace security.debian.org or non-us.debian.org. > I also have a 486 which I am going to try to run as a terminal > server. If it loads a shell it will be like my Dorio dumb > terminals? A terminal server does 90% of the work for all the users. A 486 would be fine for a terminal CLIENT (the box the user actually sits at). If you don't run X, then the PC's console will be a lot like the Dorio, yes. Try to find a Linux distro that will automatically identify your PC's video card. It'll be tough on a box that old. But if you succeed, then you can save that XF86Config-4 file and use it with the Linux distro of your choice. You might try putting the card into a more modern PC with more RAM and disk space, then install RedHat or KNOPPIX and see if they can figure it out. RedHat will overwrite your disk, so plan accordingly.
