Flames? It's hard to get a flame-fest lit off when we (mostly) are
in town, and mostly agree that it really is a matter of what works best
for me may not work at all well for you. Whether distros, desktops or even
editors, every one of us has his (sometimes her, there are women lurking
on this list) preferences, whether dictated by hardware, our own (lack of)
skills, or just pure cussedness and inability to See The One True
GNU/Linux Way, or One True OpenBSD Way, or whatever One True Way catches
our fancies this year. One of the strengths of this list is that we have
so many One True Ways represented.
The good news is that somebody is always trying something new and,
if not always wonderful, at least amusing. Often as not, what I thought
only amusing when you reported trying it out comes back to haunt me when I
find it the most necessary app available, and I'm grateful that I remember
who amused me when I need someone to help me get out of the hole I just
dug myself into.
