So... here I am in the DC area (this house used to be in the country 20
years ago... now its nearly city!) anyway... I just got a computer online
(now to get a linux box running!) To make a long painful story short, Ive
fried my good computers (and 4 hard disks) on bad electricity... (old
house, no grounding/old fusebox melting down!)

Im down to really crappy old computers (yes sub 200mhz computers!) but I do
have broadband internet access! anyway... on to the surprise part....

I brought one hub, but forgot to bring the powersupply for it (DOH!) I went
to some thrift shops to see If I could find a cheap power supply for it, no
luck :( but I did find an old pentium 133 comptuer for $15! so I got that
(hey... why fry good hard drives when you can fry a $15 computer instead!)
(thats not the surpise... keep reading!)

So I walk into a Radio Shack to get a universal power supply... After
sorting through the many various ones, I find one for about $15 (this is
the cheapest one I find... one is $40!) but Im thinking heck... for $20-30
I can get a new hub or switch... so I ask the guy if they sell hubs or
switches... they point me to the right area, but dont have any on the
shelf... so I tell the guy, and and say hey... I hate to spend $15 on a
power supply if he has a hub or switch I can buy for not much more and they
guy goes in the back and pulls out 8 port switch that looks like its been
in the store for a year or more (and reshelved more than a few times...) I
think he couldnt find it in the comptuer for the price, so he sells it to
me for $10 (hey now thats quite the bargain (but not the surpise... read
on!) I get home hook it up, it works just fine... now the surpise! It comes
with a copy of Turbo Linux!!!! who would have guessed that when you get a
switch, you get linux! Im not a big fan of turbo linux, and wont use it,
but I did think it was really cool it came with linux :)

well... I have a lot of stuff to do... but thought Id share my most recent
linux find :)

Jamie
