Well a few weeks ago, I saw a similar deal (IIRC it was also at Office
Depot) on a Maxtor Ultra 160GB, with 7200rpm and 8mb cache (ata-133 as
well), for only $79 after rebates. And *yes*, my rebate *is* being
processed. It started with a web coupon, which cut another $20 off the
special deal that 'Depot had running in the sunday print ads... then a
mfg rebate from Maxtor. So no, that is not the best deal, or the best
drive for the money.

While we're on the subject, I'll plug dealnews.com again, as it has made
a true capitalist out of me 8-P A friend also pointed me to
gotapex.com recently, which I hadn't heard of. Disclaimer: I'm not
ashamed of my web resources, nor do I commercially endorse them!

regards,

   Ben

PS - don't forget dealcoupon.com, it is in the dealnews family and handy
when you've already decided to go with a specific retailer...
for instance, follow this link and observe the code in the upper-right
corner; this is $20 of $75 for *non-technology* items, a currently
running promotion:
http://dealcoupon.com/coupons/20771.html

This one looks to be a flat $20 off $100, might work for the HD:
http://dealcoupon.com/coupons/20615.html
BTW, I was able to use the web coupon code while placing my order over
the phone with the local store; this way I avoided shipping and also
processed my order before their measly stock of drives ran out ( =
So $80, with rebates. Prolly the same drive...
