As per Hewlett Packer's linux driver page for the hp DeskJet5550, the
driver used is the DeskJet900 Series.
Gimp printer command = lp -s -dDeskJet5550 -oraw
Media size = Legal [I want 4 4x6 prints on each page]
Media Type = Glossy Photo
Resolution = 600x600 DPI
Image Output = Photograph
Output Type = Color
Orientation = Left 4.35 Top 2.25
Right 9.67 Bottom 6.25
Right Border 4.33 Bottom Border 2.25
Width 5.35
Height 4.00
Scale is PPI and Units are inches.
The pictures come as compressed and only on the first 3 inches or so of
the paper. I'm using Kodak Premium Picture Paper, legal size. BTW, the
pictures as printed out using the Windows 98 hdd and the Olympus
software are absolutely beautiful photographs. I don't want to have to
switch to windows to print photos. I know linux can do it, I can do it
using gThumb Viewer, there's just no easy to get multiple pictures on a
page using gThumb Viewer. I just don't know to do it how with the Gimp.
