tomorrow night.
a. OPN is letting us borrow a computer to set up as an intranet server for a nonprofit
basically it's a box on which we will be installing and configuring some basic
productivity and groupware applications, it's basically a project to give the clinic
some focus and to let clinic attendees have a chance to suggest and demo open source
software that would be useful to a group that needs to get some work done.
I'd like to have a recipient organization picked out and the software adapted and installed
by the end of the year.
One piece we'll be installing is SQL-Ledger, which is an open source accounting
program written in perl and backed by postgres.
b. There will also be a showing of "The Fanimatrix - Run Program" a short independent
movie set in the same universe as the Matrix movies; it's vaguely related to open source
and we'll be watching it in the divx format (and yes it's perfectly legal for us to show it) for
more info check out http://www.fanimatrix.net/what.html
As usual the group will be available to answer questions about linux, unix and open source in general, if you have any other suggestions for activities that would be germane to and liven up the clinic, drop me a line.
