If you need another modem, it should be the external serial variety. I had one of these, but I think last fall I gave it to someone or other. The external serial port modems are the ones that are essentially guaranteed to work. Non-winmodem ISA modems work, and with the right drivers about half of the PCI modems out there work. USB is hit and miss for modems. PCMCIA usually works, but not always.
