I'm planning on going to the MWVLUG meeting tonight. It starts at 6:30p.m. and it's in Corvallis so I'll probably be heading out a little after 5p.m. Any of you EUGLUGers want to carpool, or drive? (my car seats 3 besides me).
Here's a recopy of the meeting announcement:

Errors-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] The Making of Knoppix-AVR
Matthew MacClary
Tuesday May 4th, 6:30pm
Owen 101 on the OSU campus, Corvallis Oregon This presentation describes a re-master of Knoppix, the excellent
CD based Linux distribution. Re-mastering in this context means
extracting the compressed Knoppix filesystem, modifying the
configuration, and finally mastering a new bootable Linux CD.
Bootable Linux CDs are a powerful solution to a wide range of
challenges. The subject for this discussion is the Knoppix-AVR CD which was
created by TekBots at OSU for a microcontroller development class.
The key addition to this CD was the gcc-avr cross compiler and
related libraries. Because this CD was to be used in an
electronics lab on campus, steps were taken to increase local
security. These precautions included preventing root or single
user access, disabling hard drive access, and removing network
software that could be dangerous. Matthew is a graduating senior in Computer Engineering at OSU. He
plans to begin a masters in ECE at OSU next Fall. It is possible
to derive great enjoyment from using and examining open source
software, while accomplishing a great deal at the same time.
He says: "Hopefully you will enjoy this look inside a live Linux
distribution as much as I did"
After the meeting, we usually retire to Clodfelters for a beer and discussion.
