use df or fdisk to figure out the size of the partition

then use

dd if=/dev/zero of=${DEVICE_NAME} bs=1024 count=${SIZE_OF_DEVICE}

where

DEVICE_NAME = the name of the partition (varies)

SIZE_OF_DEVICE =  in 1k blocks

If you want to be truly paranoid you do this several times over
alternately substituting /dev/urandom and /dev/zero

Don;t do this to any partition that represents the entire disk
